Our Guiding Legislation
By virtue of section 34 of the Taxi Regulation Act 2003 the Commission for Taxi Regulation is empowered to make regulations in relation to the licensing, ownership, control and operation of small public service vehicles (SPSVs), and dispatch operators, the licensing and control of small public service vehicle drivers and small public service vehicle licence holders, and the standards to be applied to such vehicles and their drivers.
To date the Commission for Regulation has enacted a wide range of Statutory Instruments in order to achieve our aim as set down in section 9 of the Taxi Regulation Act: to promote the provision and maintenance of quality services by small public service vehicles and their drivers. Due to the dynamic nature of any regulatory role it is envisaged that throughout the lifespan of the Commission for Taxi Regulation, legislation will be passed as and when necessary. It is for this reason that we advise all interested parties to regularly check this page.
Legislative Compendium
The Commission has prepared the following compendium of all relevant SPSV Regulations in an effort to make the legislation more readable to service-providers and consumers. You will see that the text reflects the current state of the legislation in that any revoked provisions have been removed and any amended provisions have been replaced. While every care has been taken in the preparation of this compendium, it should be noted that it is not a legal document and does not purport to be a legal interpretation of the relevant legislation.
