How to renew your SPSV driver licence
To renew your SPSV driver licence you must submit your renewal application to your local Garda station or, in the case of Dublin, to the Carriage Office. The Commission recommends that you submit your application to An Garda Síochána no later than 12 weeks prior to your expiry date. 12 weeks is required for vetting, administration and printing and posting your ID cards. Please note that applications received after the 12 week deadline may not be fully processed prior to their expiry date. Should your SPSV driver licence expire you will not be able to operate until it is renewed.
To renew your SPSV driver licence, you require the following:
- €250 receipt (Contact 1890 347347 for payment, allow 2 weeks for this payment to be processed and receipt to be posted)
- Valid original Tax Clearance Certificate (TC2)
- 3 photographs (3”X4” portrait size, of suitable quality)
- Driving licence and SPSV driver licence
- Garda renewal application form, which can be completed at the Garda Station or at the Carriage Office in Dublin
- Any other documentation which may be requested by An Garda Síochána
For all areas except Dublin we recommend that you note the Garda station, and the name and number of the Garda to whom you have given your application, to assist with tracking of your application.
